Finally I came across with some commercially available Micro-projectors that one can buy. Samsung’s MBP200, 3M’s MM200, Nextar’s Z10 and Blue-eye and there are few on Apple store as well. These projectors are capable of projecting images from between 20 to 50 inches. I also came across micro-projector embedded in a mobile phone, which can easily project your Mobile content on a wall in a decent size. The commercialization and availability of Micro-projectors could mean outburst of innovative ideas for information that exists around us and the way we interact with it in our day to day life.
Hacking one of these projectors could open up endless possibilities for ambient intelligent and interactive displays. One of such idea (which off-course is at a very nascent/conceptual level) is “Sixth Sense” by Pranav Mistry. Here is a small documentation of ”Sixth Sense”. SixthSense is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural gestures to interact with that information.
